The Leeming Building, Leeds

Reportage Shoot Around Leeds

I was commissioned to produce a set of images to promote the marketing of The Leeming Building, which is basically the offices at the Leeds Market. A major part in Leeds history, this iconic Grade 1 listed building has been rejuvenated to become a collection of unique, design led work spaces created to attract likeminded businesses. Dan, the creative director wanted me to capture relaxed natural feeling images of the hipster/artisan/independent side of the city’s local amenities. Armed with only my charm, wit and a cover letter to introduce myself to shop keepers and restauranteurs etcetera, I spent two half days seeking out interesting angles, people and cameo shots. It was a  really enjoyable shoot, taking me back to my student days with free reign to use my vision, connecting with people and the environment. I also shot all the external and internal photography for the brochure. Dan was really pleased with the final set of images and I’ve attached a few of my favourites below. Cheers, H

CEO of MEPC – Image of the Month – May 2014

James Dipple, CEO of MEPC wanted his new oppointment portrait outside their new building, 10 Wellington Place in Leeds. He was impressed by the sharp triangular corner of the architectural design which inspired me for his portrait. The sun was nearly behind him but with creative use of reflectors we got a powerful portrait. He loved it! Harry.

Secret Garden – Image of the Month – September 2013

This image is from a recent fashion shoot along the theme of ‘The Secret Garden”. We were shooting in glorious direct sunlight for two days. You’d think that would be good but actually you can have too much sunlight when it comes to photography. Assistant Steve had his work cut out with shading and reflecting the sun. Thanks Steve, Harry.

Compliment for Bupa Care Photography

After a shoot for Bupa Care, my client returned the memory stick he’d borrowed to take the images on. He attached this post-it note – sometimes it’s a simple pat on the back that means the most. Many thanks, Harry

25th Shot Up North Awards 2013

This year see’s the 25th running of the SUN Awards and I’m proud to say I’ve got two images into this years exhibition, book and website. I took both in Snowdonia back in  April and worked with the dark longer lasting winter light that was on offer to me.

The Leeds Gallery hosted the evening and the show is on until 28th September, then the exhibition goes onto Manchester and Newcastle. My lovely sister Gina, joined me and many others at the evening. We didn’t manage to avoid having a cheesy snap taken together next to one of my winning images. Cheers, Harry

The New Workhorse

I’m really enjoying my new Ford S-Max. She’s my first diesel, has leather interior, panoramic roof, super sound system, sensors everywhere and is a joy to drive. Quick iPhone snap here whilst in pristine condition . Hx

Artificial Sun Flare Effect – Image of the Month – August 2013

These images are just being published by my client and I’m really proud of the flash light we used to create sun flare in this image. In the dead of winter back in January, sunlight was scarce and snow wasn’t. So my assistant used a boom arm to hold into shot a small flash head pointing directly into the lens. The effect was great and was had a lot of fun working out the best amount of power and position of the light to gain the best results. People often use software to create this effect but It’s so much nicer getting it in the camera and the clients gets excited just looking at the back of the camera. Enjoy, H.iotm tweed

I Believe In Monsters

It’s great to promote your mates creative work on that interweb thing! My best friend and actor Adam Lewis (pictured left below), has just done a short film. He plays an unsavoury character –  that’s fairly normal for him, both on and off the screen!!!!

Keep an eye out for it – the image links to the trailer on youtube. Cheers H.
